Happy Tuesday everybody!

So, since my blogging alias is ‘sconnie belle,’ I should probably write about Wisconsin, right? I was born and raised in a small town in this great state. I spent my life traveling and exploring this place and I wanted to give ya’ll some perks of growing up in this fantastic state!

*The 4 seasons

While sometimes it can snow during Easter and get to an odd 70 degrees the next day, I do enjoy that Wisconsin does have all three distinct seasons. I could never live in a place that doesn’t snow during Christmas time. The summers never get too unbearably hot, and the winters provide fun activities such as snowmobiling and ice fishing.
*We like sports and we don’t care who knows

We take pride in our hometown teams. Wisconsinites are passionate about their sport teams and we have a reason to! Our Green Bay Packers were dedicated ‘America’s Team’, while also having the most football championships our of any other team in the league. Packer games are statewide holidays were every family member needs to be a) at the Tundra Tailgate Zone (which is by Lambeau Field), b) at the game or c) sitting at home with the TV on and nothing else.  It’s not odd to see everyone in church decked out in Packer gear every Sunday. And we are just not passionate about our football teams. We always love backing our “Brew Crew”, Badgers, Golden Eagles, Bucks, and even the UW-Whitewater football team has won numerous national championships over the past couple years. We don’t mind to tell you until we are blue in the face why our teams are better than yours.
*Want a country or city life? We have you covered

Skyline in Milwaukee

Do you only want one stoplight in the whole county? Come live in my hometown. Do you want a hip metropolitan city life? Come to Milwaukee. The moral of the story is that Wisconsin has best of both worlds. While much of the northern part of the state is filled with trees and cabins, the southern part of the state has busy cities like Madison and Milwaukee that are full of fun and culture for everyone to enjoy.
*Hunting is state-wide holiday

One thing many of my Illinois friends cannot comprehend is the deer hunting season atmosphere here is Wisconsin. Deer hunting only lasts a couple weeks during Thanksgiving time, but it takes on a whole new life compared to turkey, bow, and even fishing! Many schools do not even have classes the week of Thanksgiving because so many of their students chose to sit in their deerstand rather than sit in their classroom. Blaze orange is a staple color in a Sconnie’s wardrobe 🙂
*Three main food groups: Cheese, Milk, and Ice Cream

I mean, we ARE America’s Dairyland. It’s hard to find something made in Wisconsin that doesn’t include some of our signature dairy. Talk to any Wisconsinite and they can tell you where their favorite ice cream place is and how delicious a fresh, squeaky cheese curd taste. Almost every town, large or small, has their neighborhood ice cream shop and cheese factory (mine is Springside Cheese and Timberlea).
*Want to come to my house for a bonfire?

Being from a small Wisconsin town, there isn’t a lot to do with in a 5 mile radius. Most of my social gatherings were centered around a pit of fire, some chairs, s’mores goodies, friends, and chit chat. There is just something in those burning embers that brings out stories, laughs, and good times.
*The landmark that is Wisconsin Dells

The Dells 'Strip'
The Dells ‘Strip’

Summer break is NOT complete without a weekend trip to one of the various attractions of Wisconsin Dells. I mean, it is called the waterpark capital of the world! Popular attractions include Noah’s Ark (the largest waterpark), Mt. Olympus (only waterpark with attached theme park), The Wilderness (most square feet of water park area in America), and the Dells Ducks. Just take a stroll on the famous Dells ‘strip’ and you can find almost anything under the sun. While the actual population of the Dells is less than my rinky dink town, tourist spending surpasses $1 billion dollars. There is always something fun to do while in the Dells.

So, that’s all folks! Sorry I haven’t blogged in awhile. I will try update you guys more often.
